Busy, But Fun, Days!!

Wow. What a whirlwind the past couple of days have been! I forgot to tell you that I got a speeding ticket on Thanksgiving Day. Happy Thanksgiving to me! My attitude, actually, is never bad when I get a speeding ticket, because I always know that I deserve it. I was a little puzzled, however, how I happened to win the prize this particular time. We were in 4 lanes of traffic, going through downtown Indy on I-70. I'm pretty sure every car was going 70 miles per hour, but I won the award. :-)

Yesterday (Friday) Maren and I got up fairly early, and went shopping. I, actually, have NEVER done that before on the day after Thanksgiving, but Maren was begging me to go shopping, so I decided to let her experience that thrill. We got a lot of shopping done for the Milbourn boys, and were still home by 10:30am.

For lunch Friday, we fixed a ham, and our favorite soup, "cheesy broccoli alfredo" soup. Denny's mom and his sister's family came over and ate lunch with us. After that, we put up a tree, and then went to see a movie. We saw "August Rush". I REALLY liked it. I think I liked it so much because it was a little different than normal, and yet still had a great story line.

Today, we finished decorating our house for Christmas. We put another tree up, and put lights up outside the house.

Currently, I'm getting ready to fix the family a good, healthy, dinner...(cereal). Then we're planning on sitting down, enjoying the lights, and watching Shrek the 3rd.

I AM

This Thanksgiving, I am most thankful that God is the great "I AM". I'm thankful that he calls Himself, "I AM". Not "I WAS". Not "I'm gonna be". But "I AM".

So many times, I think that we Christians think, "well, God did that in 'Bible days', but I'm not sure about now..." or we think, "wow, can't wait 'til Jesus comes back, that will be awesome!"

How about now? I ask. How about right now? He is alive and active NOW.

Father, I'm so thankful for you. Thankful for Your ever PRESENT help. Thankful for how you're moving in my life. Thankful for You, and amazed by You.

Call on the great "I AM" today.

"Call on Me, and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things that you do not know." Jeremiah 33:3

"I AM"

Relaxed

I am SOOO relaxed today. I'm not sure why. I'm thinking that my brain has kicked into holiday/vacation mode. Cathy and I had some light jazz music playing in our work "condo" this morning to reflect the current mood.

The mood was quickly interrupted, when our boss called us to quickly get on the phones and sell an upcoming special that we're airing. Darn those bosses. He, evidently, hasn't caught the relaxed mood, nor have my clients. I've already sold the special event, shot a commercial, and have another client who wants to be on the air starting TOMORROW, yikes. However, I'm not allowing them to change my current mood of...relaxed.

Part of the "relaxed" feeling, might be because of last night's community service. It was awesome. I love it when the "church" gets together. I loved looking out across the congregation and seeing my Baptist friends, and my Methodist friends, and my Nazarene friends, and my non-denominational friends. Judy Williams from Trinity Methodist Church gave the message, and quite frankly, I could have listened to her all evening. I really enjoyed her message. Through it I felt God's comfort, and His Love, and I liked being in that "place."

So, anyway, I decided to come to a coffee shop on my lunch hour, away from the hustle bustle, and relax in this very quiet place where they're playing relaxing music, and share my relaxed mood with you.

You might want to call me at 12:55 and make sure that I wake up and go back to work. :-)

Invisaligns

Woo hoo! I’m pretty excited about my new invisaligns. What are Invisaligns? Well you can find out details and see pictures by clicking here.

In a sense, they’re kind of like braces. Except you can take them on and off. So maybe that’s a little more like a retainer. I don’t know. All I know is, since high school I have wanted braces, so I'm excited to finally be getting something to straighten my teeth.

I had seen TV ads for the invisaligns and that peaked my interest. I was never worried about the “visual” effect of braces. I was, however, worried that braces would make my mouth too sore to sing…and I liked the idea that you could take the invisaligns in and out. When we took Maren to get braces, I found out that her doctor also does invisaligns so that worked out perfect.

So anyway, I’m going thru a minor time of adjustment right now, as I get used to wearing these things. But I’m happy to say that they are so much more comfortable today than they were yesterday. Yesterday I was having trouble saying my S’s. So when I called clients and said “this is Melissa Milbourn”, I sounded like Sylvester the cat…it was quite hilarious.

If I understood the doctor correctly, I’ll have to wear them for approximately 30 weeks.

If by chance you’re reading this and might be interested in the same treatment, my dentist is Dr. Jess Holler. What a great name for a dentist!

Classic Joshua

Here's a few conversations that have taken place recently with Joshua (our six year old)...

#1 Maren and Josh

Maren: "Mom, Joshua's girl friend kissed his hand before he left school."
Josh: (with attitude) "I've got more than one girlfriend Maren."
Maren: "Josh, you're only supposed to have ONE girl friend."
Josh: "It's too late. I've got three."

#2 Josh and me

Josh: "Mom, where is it that we're going this weekend?"
Me: "Ohio."
Josh: "Do they talk like we do?"

#3 Josh to Grandma Merle:

Josh: "Maren's got braces, and Mom's getting braces. (pause) Me, Dad, and Will are getting beards."

Takin' Care of Blog Business

Hey! I added a few new links under the "sites I visit", and I wanted to mention them here.

First, I added Wendy Pope. Wendy is a Speaker and Writer with Proverbs 31 Ministries, and she is coming to our church for a ladies retreat on May 3rd, 2008...Yay!!! I love Wendy Pope, and I know you (my fellow FCC friends) will enjoy her as well!

I also added Christy Sutherland, many of you met Christy when she sang at our church in September. You'll also now find Jeff and Linda Noel's blog in my side bar, as well as, WTHI-TV, and our church website, marshallfcc.org.

I also wanted to mention that thanks to Chris Scott you can now get my CD via my website. I believe we still need to tweak the audio samples, they sound a little digitized, but you can purchase a hard copy of the CD by clicking on "music" and/or "online store" via my website. Thanks Topher!

Fun Weekends!

Okay, I feel a bit like a truck driver, having logged in over 20 hours in the car over the past two weekends! However, as I type this I'm thinking that my friend Gretchen has me beat. I'm guessing that she's logged in over 24 hours the past two weekends. (on totally different trips than us)

Anyway, both weekends have been a blast. Last week (as I mentioned in a prior post) we did the Harvest Show which is broadcast from South Bend, that was eight hours round trip. This weekend we spent the weekend with the Rudy family from Pennsylvania. We met them in Sandusky, Ohio.

I met Beth Rudy last year. She writes a daily devotion called "Prayer Pal" and God bonded our hearts. Over the past year our boys have also became very good friends via the internet. So we thought it would be fun to get the whole family together.

Beth planned a trip for us at an indoor water park, and we had a blast! Below is a picture of the whole hee haw gang taken beside Lake Erie.
