Dinner Conversation Part 2
Tonight's dinner conversation once again revolved around outer space. The good news is, we were off of the subject of Uranus. The bad news is (you might want to sit down before you read this) we were talking about (imagine me screaming this with much panic) this spy satellite that is the size of a small bus and is falling out of orbit and is supposed to hit the Earth sometime in late February or early March!!!!!!!!! (take a breath)

Blizzard of '78
Where were you during the blizzard of '78? I was in the 5th grade (I think), and if I recall correctly, my cousins, Teresa and Michele were staying with us because their Mama was in the hospital, with a disease that the doctors could not diagnose. However, the GREAT physician, God, healed her, and she, and her story ended up on the 700 Club (true story, I just can't remember all of the details because I was like, ten.)
I do remember building igloos with my cousins and brothers, and I also remember getting frost bite on my left thumb. Dinner Conversation
I haven’t seen my family since Sunday. Okay, I’ve seen them, but we’ve spent no time together. This evening we finally had dinner together, and here’s the conversation that took place:
Maren: today, I was on the computer at school, and I was looking at the planets. The girl next to me asked, “what planet are you on?” and I said, “Uranus”. And then we both started laughing.
Missy: Were you really on Uranus, or were you just being silly?
Maren: I was really on Uranus.
Missy: I think they should have kept Pluto and done away with Uranus.
Denny: Me too. I think they should have done away with Uranus
Will: Have you seen the size of Uranus?
Josh with arms spread wide: Yeah, it is THIS big.
And with that we all got lost in laughter.

My New Favorite Song
This is my new favorite song. It's on the new Lakewood CD with full orchestra, but I thought that this version of Israel doing it by himself was pretty cool! No man should be able to sing this high.
In The Kitchen
Right now, as I type this, I'm in the kitchen cooking spaghetti, and I had to pause for a moment and share a brief moment of delight that I had.
As I grabbed the frozen garlic bread, I read a "message" on it that said in big, red, bold letters the following statement, "IMPORTANT: REMOVE BREAD FROM BAG"
I gleamed with pride as I realized that there must be some who are more "stupid" in the kitchen than me! For crying out loud, even I know to remove the bread out of the wrapper before you place it in the oven!

More Than Food
Here lately, God has been talking to me about just how much I/we need Him…more than food, He says.
Isaiah 55
WAIT and listen, everyone who is thirsty! Come to the waters; and he who has no money, come, buy and eat! Yes, come, buy [priceless, spiritual] wine and milk without money and without price [simply for the self-surrender that accepts the blessing].
Why do you spend your money for that which is not bread, and your earnings for what does not satisfy? Hearken diligently to Me, and eat what is good, and let your soul delight itself in fatness [the profuseness of spiritual joy].
Obviously we can’t go without physical food for too long or we’ll die, we understand that. Yet, we continually starve our soul, our spiritual selves, by not dining on His daily bread, by not turning to Him and His Word daily. However, turning to Him alone, won’t satisfy us. We must be obedient to His Word. For complete satisfaction, we must listen and obey.
We say that we understand this, but we don’t. If we did, more of us would be in His Word more often…and we as individuals would look different, and the church would look different, and the world would look different. People would hate less and love more. They would be quick to forgive an offense instead of wallering in it. We would not slander one another (in front of or behind one’s back) we would speak only words to uplift and encourage. We would be more patient with one another. We would be about our Father’s business, just as Jesus was.
In John 4, Jesus was tired from His journey. The disciples went to get some food, and they left Jesus behind. He runs into the woman at the well. During His conversation with her, he tells her this: All who drink of this water will be thirsty again. (speaking of the well water)
14But whoever takes a drink of the water that I will give him shall never, no never, be thirsty any more. But the water that I will give him shall become a spring of water welling up (flowing, bubbling) [continually] within him unto (into, for) eternal life.
When the disciples returned with food they said, “Rabbi eat”. Jesus responded by saying, “I have food to eat that you know not of.” I can just imagine the disciples turning to one another, and saying, “who brought Him food??” Jesus follows that up with, “ My food (nourishment) is to do the will (pleasure) of Him Who sent Me and to accomplish and completely finish His work.”
So then, what do we do? Grab a daily devotional book. Read it, and the corresponding Bible passage that goes with it. Ask God to speak to you through it. Then listen and obey. Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you.
As I type this a song comes to mind that says, “I need You like water, like breath, like rain.” How true that is. Thanks for the reminder, Jesus, that apart from you, I can do nothing. But with you all things are possible.

Dear Abbey
Dear Abbey,
We're having trouble potty training our dog. She'll pee twice, outside, and then five minutes later, she'll pee inside. We've had her tested for various health problems, and she checked out fine. The other day, we probably cleaned up five messes in 90 minutes. We're getting very frustrated, and it really sends Denny over the edge. I'm beginning to think, I'm going to have to get rid of one of them.
She also greets people with pee. Tonight, I read the following on a dog training blog As far as her urinating when meeting a visitor, it's called submissive urination. It's actually a form of her communicating with people, an instinctive pack trait which is perfectly normal. She's telling your guest that she means them no harm and acknowledges them as an Alpha, being above her. She's being submissive to them. Well...how sweet...she's saying, "Good evening, may I pee on your shoe?" The other day, Gretchen came over....she had to pee too (maybe it has something to do with our house) anyway, while Gretchen went inside the bathroom, Mosie peed outside the bathroom door. I suppose in doggy language that meant, "good evening Gretchen, I understand that you are greater than I, so therefore, you use the bathroom, and I'll just go right here outside the door so you'll step in it when you come out." (which she did, by the way).
Now, during our 20 year marriage, we've had two other dogs, both of which were trained within a months time. We've also potty trained two cats, and three kids. Denny and I also went thru potty training, with much success I might add, except for an occassional leak of urination during an extreme sneeze. So, anyway, all that to say, it's not like we've never potty trained before, we have experience.
What do we do?
