Glory to God and the cell phone

$10 bucks says that my cell phone is better than yours...why would I take this cell phone challenge? Well, let me tell you about my cell phone. If I wanted to be really funny, I would tell this story from the cell phone's perspective, however, I don't have that much creative energy right now.

Really, I have to tell you, that I'm amazed by my phone. I have a Motorola Razor phone. It has proved to be quite impressive. You see, one day, this past winter, I was, well, I don't know of any politically correct way to say this, other than to say, I was going to the bathroom. I had on one of those "hoodie" sweatshirts, and I had my cell phone in the front pocket of it. As I stood up, my cell phone slid out of my pocket and into the toilet.

I had already flushed the toilet, so my cell phone hit the water just in time to disappear from my sight...yes, I had successfully flushed my cell phone. I immediately prayed, "oh my, God, that's my company phone, please do something!!" And then my phone which had previously been TOTALLY out of sight, floated back into the toilet. I was very glad to see it, but not so glad to have to reach in and get it out! However, I rescued the phone, and took it apart, piece by piece, and laid it out on a paper towel to dry. I could give you many details on the drying process, but let me just say that after THREE days of drying out, it came to life again (I'm sure there's a devo somewhere in that just waiting to be written) Anyway, after three days my phone worked PERFECTLY...I mean Perfectly, just as if nothing had ever happened to it...amazing, and I actually TOTALLY believe it was an answer to prayer!

Now fast forward to last week (or so, I lose track of time) I was leaving for work one morning, and that's always a hectic time. I was putting Joshua in his car seat, and we were having, let's say, a discussion, about whether or not he could eat the swiss cake rolls, that he had a firm grip on, for breakfast. I put my cell phone on top of the car so that I could get Josh to release his grip on the swiss cake rolls, and then of course, I backed out of the driveway and left for work.

I pulled out onto the highway and had got my speed up to about 50 miles an hour when I heard something hit my trunk. I said, "what was that?" and I looked back just in time to see my cell phone hit the pavement and break into pieces. Gasp. To be honest, I almost just kept on driving...but I didn't, I stopped and drove back to the approximate location that I thought it was, and walked along the ditch, for 1/2 hour looking for my phone, while Josh sat and ate his swiss cake rolls. :-) (true story)

The amazing thing is, I found my phone. First I found the battery, and about five feet from the battery was the rest of the phone...(most of it anyway, I actually never found the battery cover) Anyway, I put the battery in the phone, and turned it on. Maren was with me too, and she had her cell phone, so she used it to call mine, and sure enough it worked, perfect, as if nothing had ever happened. And fortunately I had a cell phone cover at home, that I had never put back on after the toilet incident...so I put the cell phone cover back on and it holds the battery perfectly in place. So it's broken, yet whole...kinda like the rest of us.

And if you ever ask to borrow my cell phone, you might want to remember where it's been first.

Kirk Talley Concert

I'm singing tonight at the Kirk Talley concert at Mill Creek Park. The concert starts at 6:30p. I'm getting ready to go make final preps for that, and as I was thinking about making the final preps I thought, "I sure would like to have some additional prayers regarding this". So, if you read this, and it's still Saturday before 6:30p, please say a prayer for me. And if it's after 6:30p, it's still okay to pray for me! Thanks friends. "Father, thank you for my friends who read this be with them also, and meet them right where they're at today...I love you Lord."

Quick Note

Quick note to tell you what's going on at the Milbourn household. Monday night, lightning struck somewhere near our house. Our boys, Will and Joshua, were playing Nintendo at the time, and it shocked them thru the controllers (I'd been telling them that God thought they were playing too much Nintendo!)

It also blew out a couple of our TV's, and all satellite receivers, both garage door openers (you realize you're spoiled rotten when stepping out of the car to put the garage door down is a major ordeal). It took out the Nintendo (YAY!!), it destroyed most of our phones, and our internet is gone.

So, this week, we've been learning to live life without all the modern day conveniences!!! So, if I haven't returned your e-mail, or if you've tried calling and can't get ahold of us...that's why!!!

Power Wash

Today I decided to wash the van with our power washer. I had set the wand down for a moment when our five year old, Josh, pictured below in a previous post, decided to power wash our five pound puppy dog. Pertnear blew the dog half way across the garage. The dog is inside now and resting peacefully....behind the couch...as far away from Josh as possible. :-)

Cause for Celebration!!!

The last verse of the book of John says this, "if all the other things Jesus did were written down, the whole world could not contain the books." John 21:25

That's the way I feel about my past week. If I were to tell about all the things God has done in my life from the last Sunday (at the P31 conference) to this Sunday, this blog post would never end, for it has certainly been an amazing week. I may share some of those God-incidences in later posts, but today I wanted to at least hit what was definitely the highlight of our week.
