Just for fun, several of us have written 25 random things about ourselves on Facebook. I thought I'd also post mine here.
1. I love Jesus with all my heart and mind and soul and strength. And even though I do, I still mess up
2. I married my best friend when I was 19. (Yes, that was Denny)
3. For 21 years, Denny and I have slept on the same side of the bed, meaning, I sleep on the right side, he sleeps on the left. UNTIL last week. We switched.
4. I used to play keyboards and sing in a country music band that played all over the country. Traveled from South Dakota to South Carolina.
5. I have two older brothers, and one adopted sister.
6. Denny and I have three children. Two boys and a girl.
7. I love to ride four wheelers
8. I had frost bite once.
9. My Grandpa managed a circus/carnival for a living.
10. My mom was the bearded lady. JUST KIDDING. (Good thing Mom doesn’t have Facebook) (sorry Mom, I know you read my blog :-)
11. I just organized an all female praise band to lead worship at Unity Night. I’m very excited.
12. My main goal for this year is to learn to shoot a gun. Be very afraid.
13. I can’t play sports without wanting to cuss when I don’t do well. Not even Wii Sports. So, you might not want me to play Wii sports with your children.
14. When I find a shirt that I like, I buy it in multiple colors.
15. It’s hard for me to let go of money. Except for eating out.
16. I drove my Honda for ten years. Now Will is driving it.
17. I hate car payments.
18. I once had a bird land on my shoulder while I was walking down my driveway. Really. I felt like I was in a Disney movie. So when I tell you that a little bird told me something…it might be true.
19. Let’s see what other ridiculous random thing can I put here….I shot my brother in the privates with a BB gun. I didn’t mean to. (maybe I should rethink that whole learning to shoot a gun thing, and just leave the guns alone)
20. I’ve worked in television for as long as I’ve been married.
21. Denny does all of our laundry. I love him. You can’t have him, and he doesn’t hire out.
22. I love to go to the theatre to see movies, but I cannot watch one at home without falling asleep. It makes me mad. I try to stay awake, and still can’t.
23. I once spent the weekend with Jeanne Cooper who plays Katherine Chancellor on the Young and the Restless. Actually, two weekends. One in Terre Haute, and then she invited us to come to LA and she showed us around the set of Y&R. She introduced us to the cast, and we watched them film some of the scenes.
24. I ran face first into a tree one time. That was embarrassing. How did I not know that the tree was there?
25. I live today, fully aware, that the very best part of my life is God’s presence in it.

What An Awesome Prayer of Praise
David’s Prayer of Praise - 1 Chronicles 29
10 Then David praised the Lord in the presence of the whole assembly:
“O Lord, the God of our ancestor Israel,[i] may you be praised forever and ever! 11 Yours, O Lord, is the greatness, the power, the glory, the victory, and the majesty. Everything in the heavens and on earth is yours, O Lord, and this is your kingdom. We adore you as the one who is over all things. 12 Wealth and honor come from you alone, for you rule over everything. Power and might are in your hand, and at your discretion people are made great and given strength.
13 “O our God, we thank you and praise your glorious name! 14 But who am I, and who are my people, that we could give anything to you? Everything we have has come from you, and we give you only what you first gave us! 15 We are here for only a moment, visitors and strangers in the land as our ancestors were before us. Our days on earth are like a passing shadow, gone so soon without a trace.
16 “O Lord our God, even this material we have gathered to build a Temple to honor your holy name comes from you! It all belongs to you! 17 I know, my God, that you examine our hearts and rejoice when you find integrity there. You know I have done all this with good motives, and I have watched your people offer their gifts willingly and joyously. 18 “O Lord, the God of our ancestors Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, make your people always want to obey you. See to it that their love for you never changes.
19 Give my son Solomon the wholehearted desire to obey all your commands, laws, and decrees, and to do everything necessary to build this Temple, for which I have made these preparations.”
20 Then David said to the whole assembly, “Give praise to the Lord your God!” And the entire assembly praised the Lord, the God of their ancestors, and they bowed low and knelt before the Lord and the king.

Today
Today, just for fun, while I'm out and about seeing my clients, I'm taking all of the side streets. You know the ones that haven't been plowed yet...and you fear that if you actually stop at the stop sign, that you may not be able to get going again because the snow is so deep??? Those streets are the ones I'm taking. So far it's made for a fun adventure :-)
Of course it's all fun and games until I have to call someone to come pull me out.

Digging Out
Here are a few snow pics from this morning. The first one is a view out our back door. I thought the snow on the railing was pretty impressive. I'm also noticing that birds aren't gonna find anything to eat in that feeder. :-)
The snow measured 11 inches in our driveway.

He will not fail YOU!
I'm still reading through 1 Chronicles. This morning I read Chapter 28. There are many things that I love about this chapter. I love that David calls his people together and passes along the information that the Lord has given him. I LOVE it that David instructs and encourages his son Solomon by saying, "Solomon, my son, get to know the God of your ancestors. Worship and serve him with your whole heart and with a willing mind. For the Lord sees every heart and understands and knows every plan and thought. If you seek him, you will find him. But if you forsake him, he will reject you forever. So, take this seriously. The Lord has chosen you to build a Temple as his sanctuary. Be strong, and do the work." 1 Chronicles 28:9-10
"Then David continued, 'be strong and courageous, and do the work. Don't be afraid or discouraged by the size of the task, for the Lord God, my God is with you. He will not fail you or forsake you. He will see to it that all the work related to the Temple of the Lord is finished correctly." 1 Chronicles 28:20
As I read verse 20, I was reminded of a story that I heard Beth Moore tell once. She was speaking of a new assignment that God had given her. A big assignment. She was struggling with the enormity of it, and in her quiet time she cried out to God saying, "God, I know you've called me to this, but I'm afraid I'll fail you..." God said to Beth, "But Beth, I WON'T FAIL YOU!!"
I've always loved that story. When God calls us to something, yes, we need to be dilligent in our work. We need to be faithful and obedient, but it's not all just about our efforts. It's about God. His call. His plan. and if He's asked us to do something regardless of the enormity of the task, as long as we're faithful, we can count on Him to NOT FAIL US!
That's the encouragement I find when I read verse 20, David is reminding Solomon that the task ahead is a big one, but don't be discouraged by that for your Heavenly Father will see you through it and complete it. He will not FAIL YOU.
